Australia travel planning

Northern Territory Roadtrip!

In 3 weeks we will head off on a quick trip to the a Northern Territory. A combination of a Take a Friend For Free Jetstar sale, and not knowing when we will come back to Australia the move to LA, inspired us to book a flight into Uluru and out of Darwin 8 days later. A good ol’ fashioned road trip through central Australia and the Top End!

Our plan so far looks like this:
Day 1: Fly into Uluru (rental car). Camp Overnight.
Day 2: Kata Tjuta/Valley of the Winds Walk and then drive to Kings Canyon.  Camp overnight.
Day 3: Kings Canyon Rim Walk, travel to Alice Springs, pick up Campervan.
Day 4: Drive to Wycliffe Well, stop and see the crazy “UFO” capital of Australia (uh-huh…), onward to Devils Marbles, and The Pebbles to explore. Continue on to camp at Banka Banka
Day 5: Drive to Mataranka Hot springs with a stop at the historic Daly Waters Pub. After a few hours enjoying Mataranka continue on to Nitmiluk N.P, hopefully catch sunset from one of the lookouts over the gorges and camp for the night.
Day 6: A full day canoeing the beautiful Katherine Gorge! Camp over night at Nitmiluk campground.
Day 7: Drive up to Litchfield NP and spend the afternoon swimming in waterfalls and finding a campground.
Day 8: more Litchfield! Head back toward Darwin maybe stop at Berry Springs. Drop off campervan. Might check out Mindul Beach markets and see sunset over the ocean before dinner and getting to the airport for our midnight flight !
